July 3rd Shakedown @ Carmen Creek

Hey folks!

Next Thursday (July 3) we’re meeting at Carmen Creek for the Shakedown! It runs from 6:30 — 8:00pm, and includes sand beach volleyball, mini-golf and fun!

They’re giving us a great deal — bring $3 and you can play volleyball or mini-golf. Bring $5 and you can do both! If you are unable to pay, send your teens anyway. We’ll take care of it. If your teen is interested in doing the driving range they can, but we don’t get a group discount for that activity. (It’s $8.50) 

Please drop your teens off and pick them up @ Carmen Creek as we won’t have enough vehicles to shuttle everyone from the church and back.

slip ‘n slide

The slip n’ slide tonight is RAIN or SHINE! 

6:30 -8:00pm 

Calendar Typo // Slip ‘n Slide

*This Thursday night is the annual slip ‘n slide @ Crosspoint Wesleyan Church! It runs from 6:30 – 8:00pm. Make sure your kids have appropriate clothing/bathing suits on, and that they bring a towel. 

*This is also the first week of summer youth nights running from 6:30 – 8:00, instead of 8:30pm. 

*Also — despite what the calendar says, this event is NOT open to kids entering into grade 5. That should read “kids who are entering into grade 6.” Sorry about the typo, and hopefully you didn’t invite any kids who are just graduating out of grade 4.

Ignition Event

This Sunday night (June 22) is the Ignition Event happening @ the Moncton Coliseum. It’s put on by the Billy Graham Association and it’s going to be pretty big — they’re expecting around 5000 people to be there! It features two bands, a BMX stunt team, speaking and more. 

Here’s the scoop: 

*Cost is $20. This covers the ticket + gas. Teens can bring extra money for snacks (there will be a food stop)

*We’re leaving the church Sunday @ 4:30pm and plan to be back at the church by 11:00pm. 

*Our summer students (John and Laura) are in charge of this event as I am away in Halifax at a family wedding all weekend. 

*If your teen wants to attend, please let us know ASAP. We haven’t had a lot of interest yet but we’re still planning to go if there are some teens who want to go. Let us know by posting it here, emailing the church (mail@olivetwesleyan.ca), calling the church (452-7110) or using Facebook. We’d like to know by Thursday night at the latest to help us finalize our driving situation.

*If you are able to drive or lend a vehicle, let us know! It would be much appreciated.

Movin’ on Up!

If you have a child in grade 5 who is eager to know when they are able to attend youth, here’s the scoop! The first event for 5’s entering into 6 will be on Thursday night, June 26th for our annual (and awesome!) Slip n’ Slide! They are then able to begin attending all of the summer youth nights and other fun events.

This event runs from 6:30 – 8:00pm. Make sure your teens wear a modest bathing suit and bring a towel or two.

{The ‘official welcome’ for Grade 5 kids will happen at the Fall Kick-Off @ the Shakedown, which is happening on September 11th.}
