Winter Meltdown Rally

15 01 2009

*Just a note: This is not a Wesleyan District event, but a rally in which I was invited to be the speaker, and they said it would be OK if I wanted to  bring some teens. So, here we go!

Details:

  • $75 — covers everything — food, travel, lodging, rally, etc.
  • Meet at 4:30pm Friday at Crosspoint // Return at app. 3pm on Sunday, the 25th (yes, Sunday — please note!)
  • Registration material is available at the church – this needs to be filled out prior to leaving on Friday
  • WARM clothes are necessary — there are various outside activities (sliding, skating, etc)
  • Pack skates, if your teen has them
  • This event takes place at Camp Shiktehawk and is being coordinated by Don McDougal, the youth pastor at Woodstock Wesleyan Church.
  • We are still in need of vehicles/drivers…if anyone is interested! :)

Shakedown is on!

8 01 2009

Despite the fact that school was cancelled today, youth is still on for tonight!
The sun is shining, the roads are clear, and the church hill is packed with kids who are sliding and snowboarding.
Sweet! Spread the word and we’ll see your teens here tonight!

Simple Youth Ministry

7 01 2009

We’re all busy. I think it’s safe to say that no one is looking for something extra to do so they can ‘fill up their calendar’!

With that in mind, I just want to reiterate what we’re doing at Crosspoint Youth that will help your calendar and at the same time, continue to provide your teens with an awesome and impacting youth ministry.

Here’s what we do on a monthly basis:

1. The Shakedown

This is our weekly youth night, and we do everything we can to make it the best 2 hours of your teen’s week! We pour tons of energy and planning and creativity into this night, and pray constantly that God will use this time to change lives. There’s games, worship, speaking, random fun, hilarious interludes, small groups, and more. This is our key event, week in and week out.

2. The Main Event

Once a month, we will have a big event. This could be a ski trip, a youth rally, an all-nighter, a games night, etc. These are fun, everyone is welcome to attend, and they’re great ‘introductory’ events for visitors. They sometimes have a big spiritual impact (rallies) and sometimes they’re purely for fun and relationship-building (ski trip).

3. Ministry and Missions

These events are optional times set aside for those ‘core teens’ who want to go even deeper in their faith; sometimes we combo these with a Shakedown Night.  In the past we’ve done Nights of Prayer + Worship, collected Coats for Kids, make and deliver meals for seniors, etc. This also includes youth involvement in various ministries, such as the youth worship team, running media/lights/sound, helping out with skits and other events, and so on.

So there you have it — our big 3. This is very similar to how our church itself works: Crosspoint focuses on 3 things: Sunday services, Kids + Youth, and getting people Connected (Small groups, ministry involvement). It’s simple but effective. And it’s been working really well over the past few months with Crosspoint Youth.

Thanks for all you do to help us, encourage us, pray for us, and more! God is working in the lives our teens and it’s exciting stuff!
